Especially with the help of the new chic boutique, Monkee’s, now officially open in High Point.  Monkee’s of High Point has the ultimate selection of the trendiest shoes, clothing, and accessories.  Whether you are looking for a small gift or a stylish new wardrobe – Monkee’s is sure to be your new best friend. And we must say, shopping with their staff is like shopping with a great friend.  Lucky for us, we had the pleasure of talking with owner and High Point local, Katy Erikson, to learn more about her and the inspiration behind opening this stylish boutique.

Q. Tell us about Monkee’s in about 10 words.

A. A women’s boutique featuring clothes, shoes, jewelry and accessories.

Q. Why was it started and what was the vision?

A. It was started in Wilmington 25 years ago by a fashionable lady that grew tired of traveling to NYC to purchase designer shoes. It began as a shoe store.

Q. What is one thing people would be interested to learn about Monkee’s?

A. Monkee’s of High Point will be the 27th store.

Q. Why did you choose to locate Monkee’s in High Point?

A. I want to invest in the community that I live in. I love the energy and vision that is driving this city.

Q. How has High Point changed since you started owning a business here? 

A. I’m just getting started with this particular business, but since living here, High Point has evolved into an energetic, progressive, beautiful town.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

A. Making the ultimate decision to take a risk and open the franchise. Monkee’s corporate team is incredibly helpful and offer guidance every step of the way.

Q. How have the citizens and community of High Point supported you?

A. The entire community of High Point has been overwhelmingly supportive.

Q. If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out in High Point, what would it be?

A. Get to know the local people. High Point is full of strong leaders and creative people. It truly is a very unique community.

Q. What are you excited about for High Point’s future? 

A. The growth and the energy is inspiring and motivating. The new businesses and the stadium opening are exciting.
