A View On: Organic AF

Barbour Spangle Design had the opportunity to interview Matt Williams, Co-Owner of OrganicAF, about his family owned juicery.  OrganicAF is all vegan juice shop with a variety of organic juices, smoothies, açaí bowls, salads and more!  As their website states, it will be the “High Point of your day.”

Q. Why was it started and what was the vision?

A. We really wanted to bring a great product that is both healthy and tasty to High Point.  We were tired of driving to Greensboro and Winston to get some juice.  We have been making juice for about 10 years but it is very messy, time consuming, expensive, and produces very little juice for the effort when making it at home.

Q. What is one thing people would be interested to learn about Organic AF?

A. The drive to bring something healthy to High Point is in big part due to my wife.  She is a nurse at High Point Regional.  Everyday she sees the cost of unhealthy living.

Q. What are the highlights and challenges of owning/operating your business in High Point?

A. You really have to get out in front of everyone and make sure they remember you are here.  We post something everyday on our social media outlets.

Q. Why did you choose to locate Organic AF in High Point?

A. This is our home. High Point needed something like this at home.  We and many of our friends were driving at least 30 miles one way to juice shops in Greensboro and Winston.

Q. How has High Point changed since you started Organic AF?

A. The uptown area is really starting to come together as a destination location.  Uptown has all kinds of great food and shops and the people are really starting to take advantage of all our city has to offer.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

A. I think the hardest thing we faced was opening at the beginning of the winter season.  Cold weather drives everyone home.  As the warmer weather has started to arrive we have seen our business start to grow.

Q. How have the citizens and community of High Point supported you?

A. Yes! We love our customers.  We have daily customers that come and we already know what juice or smoothie they want before they hit the door.  I have meet so many great people who all live right around the corner from the shop.  The HPU students are great and excited to have a juice shop so close to them too.  Many of them come from large cities where their is a juice shop on every corner.

Q. If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out in High Point, what would it be?

A. Take time to get to know your customers.  This is a tight knit community.  If you are doing the right things they will know it and support you.

Q. What are you excited about for High Point’s future?

A. I can’t wait to see the growth that is coming with the baseball stadium!  I am hearing all kinds of good things to come and it is very exciting!  It’s a good time to be a part of the city.

Keep discovering our High Points,

The HPD Team
