HPU Family Weekend: Fun Things To Do in High Point

 

Family Weekend at High Point University is right around the corner! Nothing is better than spending quality time with your children after months apart from each other. From stocking up on groceries, to exploring the new buildings on campus, to shopping for new clothes, to even picking out places for a delicious meal – there is no doubt it is a challenge trying to fit all your plans into one short weekend. We want you to make the most out of your weekend together, so we have made a list of spots you should add to your plans during your stay in High Point.

Places to Grab Food

High Point is filled with many diverse restaurants that each have their own personality to them – and most importantly delicious food. It would be nearly impossible to highlight all of our favorite restaurants, so here are just a few of our favorites!

Fixins is an American eatery that uses all fresh and local ingredients. Their menu consists of delicious traditional American meals with a twist. The best part? Their menu changes weekly, so every visit is a new experience!

Blue Rock provides the perfect retro atmosphere for you and your family to enjoy their numerous speciality pizzas. Each of their forty craft beers are sure to pair great with any of their yummy options on the menu.

If you and your family are looking for an intimate spot to catch up and enjoy a delicious meal together, then Blue Water Grille is your ideal destination for dinner. Their artistically curated menu consists of both fish and meat meals, each with their own influence from French, Asian, Caribbean, and low country cruisines

Entertainment

You will want to make sure your visit is memorable, which means you will want to make sure you and your family have the best time. High Point University provides great entertainment, along with a speech from the university’s talented president, Nido Qubein – something you will not want to miss.  If you are searching for entertainment outside of campus, check out a few of the places listed below.

Brown Truck Brewery offers a great spot for you and your child (if they are of age) to relax and enjoy a drink. This brewery not only brews great local craft beer, but they have also built a great atmosphere filled of fun games, comfortable areas for lounging, and even live music to enjoy!

If you’re lucky enough and get to experience a nice carolina day during your stay, then it is best to make the most of it! And Oak Hollow Festival Park is the perfect place to soak it in! This lakefront park, offers beautiful scenery and tons of activities to enjoy as a family!

One thing is for sure, after months of being on their own, your child will be begging to go shopping- especially if they a girl. Monkee’s, a new trendy boutique in High Point, offers stylish women’s clothing you and your child will love. And who says you can’t enjoy yourself too? Monkee’s is sure to have a new outfit that will be a perfect addition to your closet.

 A popular favorite among the HPU parents is experiencing the Furnitureland South Campus. As the biggest furniture store in the world, the campus offers tons of sights from their larger-than-life tallboy dresser to their unique fish tank bed to their 1.3 million square foot showroom filled with tons of their different products.
