Seven Ways to Celebrate Grandparents’ Day

Where in the world would we be without grandparents? From mentoring us as parents on how to raise our own kiddos, to creating last memories with the little ones that last a lifetime, grandparents help us to discover so much in life. This past Sunday was Grandparents’ Day, and in honor of all of the grandmas and grandpas (or whatever term of endearment you call them!) in High Point, here are seven ways you can show them how much they mean to you!

1. Pick up a letter-writing kit from Pen+Pillar

Maybe the grandparents in your life live too far away to spend time with this week. Never fear! Pen+Pillar has pen pal kits specifically for grandkids and grandparents – such a fun way to give your kids a creative project and the grandparents something they’ll always treasure.

2. Pick out some produce at the High Point Farmer’s Market

Do a little shopping together for some fresh fruits and veggies this Saturday at the High Point Farmer’s Market. Even better, plan to bring the ingredients home to make a meal together.

 3. Catch a baseball game together

Baseball season is still going strong, so why not root for the Rockers with your grandparents? Enjoy a meal together at the stadium, and then cheer for some home team action.

 4. Dig in the garden together

Get your green thumbs going with grandma and grandpa, thanks to Soverio’s Tri-County Garden Center! Pick up some potted plants, house plants, or garden plants and get your hands dirty. Plant the seeds and grow memories to come.

 5. Grab a sweet treat together from Mayberry

A longtime High Point family favorite, Mayberry is one of our favorite spots in High Point! Known for their ice cream and more, Mayberry is the perfect place to support a multi-generation HP restaurant with your generations!

 6. Go on a stroll around Oak Hollow Lake

Sometimes it’s putting down the phone, enjoying nature, and spending time with your loved ones that make the biggest impact. Enjoy a nice walk around our beautiful local lake.

 7. Do a little shopping at The Market

With booths and stalls from so many local vendors, The Market is sure to have a shopping day you can all enjoy together. (Hmmm, maybe you can even take some notes to prepare for what they might want this Christmas?) Plus, finish off your shopping trip with a slice of cake from Dot & Pearl’s Bakery!
