A View On: Just Priceless

Summer means wedding season! We love filling our fridge with Summer wedding save the dates, dreaming of champagne filled Summer evenings at receptions, and of course, we look forward to all the beautiful flowers! We had the chance to interview Just Priceless owner, Sami Price, about her local creative floral design shop.

Q. Tell us about Just Priceless in about 10 words.

A. We are a floral design studio specializing in wedding and event design.  We also have a small retail area and hold workshops randomly throughout the year.

Q. Why did you start it and what was your vision?

A. I accidentally found I loved working with flowers and at the time was searching for a creative outlet that could hopefully support me.  I fly by the seat of my pants…so the only vision I had was to create beautiful flowers in beautiful vessels! 😉

Q. What services or products do you offer, manufacture or sell?

A. We are an every day flower shop…in other words we do flowers for all occasions: get well, congratulations, sympathy, etc.  We deliver to High Point, Jamestown, Kernersville, Thomasville, Archdale and Trinity.  We offer free delivery to High Point Regional, High Point funeral homes and to HPU.  We also have a nice selection of house plants (not your every day house plant). We always have a good selection of Orchids.  We do custom faux designs as well: table top, wreaths, etc. We have a good selection of ribbon that we sell by the yard and of course seasonal gift merchandise.

Q. What is one thing people would be interested to learn about Just Priceless?

A. We rarely turn down a project!  We are eager to help people accomplish the mission they may have when they walk in our door.

Q. What differentiates Just Priceless from other companies?

A. I have found that we go the extra mile that many flower shops won’t attempt.  We do not do wire service, so this does free up our time to concentrate more on individual orders in our creative fashion rather than doing flowers according to a recipe book or assembly line style.

Q. What are the highlights and challenges of owning/operating your business in High Point?

A. We are so fortunate to be located in the heart of the Furniture Capital of the World.  Here we not only get wonderful opportunities through market, but we have numerous chances to meet extremely talented and well traveled people.  There are many challenges to owning a retail Brick and Mortar business anywhere right now, but High Point retailers have always seemed to have unique struggles of their own.

Q. Why did you choose to open Just Priceless in High Point?

A. This is my home.

Q. How has High Point changed since you started your business?

A. High Point is desperately trying to establish opportunities for our residents that will help them feel like they can get what they need without driving to Greensboro or Winston Salem.  This is another wonderful thing about living in High Point…the close proximity of 2 other cities that are diverse from ours.  We are still searching to find what we can offer that Greensboro and Winston don’t have.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

A. My biggest challenge has been to realize that High Point stretches far beyond the 27262 neighborhood.

Q. Are you involved in the High Point community and if so, how?

A. I am a supporter of the Arts in High Point through TAG and The Arts Council.  I am asked quite frequently to help with floral decor for organizations that benefit breast cancer, the underprivileged, etc. just as other generous volunteers in our town are.

Q. If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out in High Point, what would it be?

A. Be patient.  It seems it always takes longer to get to Point B than you think it will! LOL

Q. What are you excited about for High Point’s future?

A. My hope is that we will continue to elect visionaries to city office and that we can recruit more young people with innovative ideas and energy to carry their ideas out.  This city is rich with opportunity as far as architecture is concerned and there is wealth here that needs to be used within the city limits.

High Point is so very fortunate to have boutique businesses like Just Priceless to offer our community unique products and services.  Please be sure to stop by and visit Sami, check out their beautiful shop and maybe even take something pretty home to brighten your day – or someone else’s!
