The HPU Guide to Enjoying the Furniture Capital
Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina…especially with this travel guide to the Furniture (and we like to say Creative) Capital of NC!
Stay
The Courtyard at Mall Loop is 4 minutes from High Point University‘s campus, which makes it an absolute dream for High Point University families to stay for move in, visits, and graduation. Be sure to book way in advance because it fills up quickly! It is also conveniently a quick walk away from an HPU student favorite, Liberty Brewery and Grill.
High Point, NC has many options for Airbnb including this adorable home called the Historic Walker House. This 1921 restored house has been refurbished and is a perfect family retreat while visiting students at High Point or for a girls weekend!

Explore
In addition to exploring HPU’s gorgeous campus, the city of High Point has so much to offer. Of course, first order of business to get you moved and settled in is finding the nearest Target because what student can’t live without Target? Luckily, there is one located 5 minutes from campus on 1050 Mall Loop.
Driving around downtown is a great way to get acclimated and see some of the incredible architecture around town. We will be posting our Architectural Walking Tour soon so stay tuned!
And in Uptown we recommend exploring The Market, it’s totally worth your time. This adorable antique shop has unique and local finds which make it a perfect stop to take Mom & Dad while they are here in town. There is also an in-house bakery that is home to cake slices that HPU students can’t get enough of! Local Tip: Order in advance so you can be sure to get what you want when Mom & Dad come back to town!

We are guessing while you are packing up to move into your room, Mom or Dad might be packing to spend the weekend. Our favorite piece of luggage lately is the Away Suitcase. Plenty of room for clothes and shoes for five nights, this carry-on even has a built in charger so Mom can stay charged and connected!

Brown Truck Brewery is a locally owned brewery has an amazing outdoor brick patio perfect for a cold beer and great conversation (this is for sure an HPU student favorite!) Order one of their specialty beers such as No. 6 Belgian Honey Blonde at this hip, casual vibe brewery. Take Dad here for a toast to a great school year!

Blue Rock Pizza is a must stop for pizza lovers – this HP staple prides itself on fresh ingredients and creative combinations.

The High Point Farmers Market is open every Saturday and provides a family friendly community gathering where local fares and fresh foods promote a healthy lifestyle.
